Value for money

Once you've done all your research, you'll decide whether solar energy is right for you or not. And then you'll have to decide who you trust most.

Who will do exactly what they said they would do?

Then you will be in God's hands until it is finished and you will know if it was a wise decision you made.

Here, it would be very easy to write at length about why you should choose Ecocorp and what fantastic value it will offer. But that's not what our family stands for.

We prefer to give you the facts, talk to our current customers, and let you make your own decision.

But high quality comes at a price. Sometimes there are large differences in solar system prices. The difficult part is understanding exactly why this is the case. However, if every aspect of an Ecocorp installation is incrementally better, then all those small differences can become significant. But if the average lifespan of a quality solar system is approximately 30 years, the difference in annual cost is negligible. Even if you don't live that long or move, as long as you plan to be in the house for 6 or 7 years, the price difference becomes affordable.

In the words of a famous Victorian English philanthropist:

"It is unwise to pay too much, but it is worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money, that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was not capable of doing what it was bought to do. The common law of trade balance forbids paying too little and getting too much, it cannot be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do, you will have enough to pay for something better." - John Ruskin (1819 – 1900)

Warranties, after-sales service and emergency coverage

Choosing to install only premium brand products provides our customers with confidence through meaningful manufacturer warranties. Ecocorp is an Approved Installer for all our major brands, which means our customers benefit from extended manufacturer warranties. This benefit is provided by the manufacturers and recognizes that all our installers have been trained by the manufacturers and receive regular refresher courses.

Additionally, Ecocorp offers a comprehensive after-sales warranty on the entire installation and 24/7 emergency coverage throughout the year should it be needed.

Provided your property has internet access and the solar system remains connected, Ecocorp, through the engineer-only access menu, can "view" your system online. This way, we can quickly identify if there is a problem with the solar system or, more often, if the issue is related to a power outage, a network issue, or a meter problem. In the event of a genuine emergency where there is a risk to life or property, one of our engineers will attend your property and assist you.

Finally, guarantees only mean anything if you get the service when you need it. Having a fully contracted and employed staff gives you great benefits. Specifically, we'll be there when needed. The biggest problem with smaller companies and those that use contract labor is their availability. Showing up is one thing, but showing up when you need them most is a whole different level of customer experience. Many of our biggest advocates and most prolific recommenders are those who have had a problem and have experienced firsthand how we responded and how their issue was resolved.

Fully legalized and registered

Legalization and registration of a solar system

In Spain, it is a legal requirement to register and obtain regional government approval for all solar systems, regardless of whether they are connected to the national electricity grid or completely autonomous and self-sufficient.

Many companies fail to advise potential clients about their legal responsibilities or the significant financial penalties that can be imposed in the event of noncompliance.

Ecocorp takes its professional and client responsibilities very seriously. So much so that we have a full-time in-house legal counsel to ensure that both the company and our clients know what is legally required and why.

All of this is part of Ecocorp's comprehensive service and helps ensure that our clients, many of whom lack the necessary levels of Spanish communication skills, don't get caught up in complicated administrative processes or receive fines for failing to comply with the multitude of regulations that must be met.

Permits and approvals

The Spanish government has relaxed regulations on solar panel installation to meet its climate change commitments. For most properties, solar installation does not require a permit.

There are some exceptions, including residential developments and apartment properties, to ensure the owner's view isn't negatively affected. There are also understandable restrictions regarding installation in the countryside or where there is periodic stormwater drainage. Again, Ecocorp will advise you on what is permissible and what may require a permit.

Finally, a small number of municipalities require the submission of an application for minor works and the payment of the corresponding fee. This is a strictly local requirement, likely due to the need to exercise some control and generate additional revenue.

Affordable financing options and assistance

Split the cost

Not everyone looking to invest in solar systems wants to finance the project with savings, and many prefer to keep their lump sum in case of an emergency. That said, most of us also seek transparency about our monthly expenses, and investing in solar energy is a way to protect against constantly rising electricity costs.

After receiving numerous inquiries about whether we offer easy payment options, Ecocorp now offers the option of introducing potential solar energy customers to Banco Sabadell.

It's not a decision we made lightly. We don't want customers to take on debt just to finance their solar installation. However, for many, it's what they want to do, and they've asked if we can help.

Assistance

Many clients also ask what type of local or national financial assistance may be available and who is eligible to receive it.

Despite Spain having the fastest-growing economy in Europe, it remains a relatively poor country. As such, available funding is limited, and most assistance comes directly from the European Union. These funds are then distributed through the national government to the autonomous regions and, in turn, to local municipalities. Therefore, financial assistance is complex, and each property owner depends on the local rules that apply.

This complexity is further complicated by the lack of a definitive administrative process, and financial assistance appears to be more of an ad hoc distribution than a "first-come, first-served" system.

In Andalusia, in recent years the following have been offered:

  • Financial contribution towards the cost of solar projects
  • Reductions in the IBI
  • Grants for improving the energy efficiency of the property
  • Tax exemptions for renewable energy improvements approved for homes

Specialized financing consultants, tax agencies, and tax advisors can help you navigate this complicated landscape and offer advice on the best course of action.

Ecocorp encourages all of our potential customers to thoroughly research what may be available and whether they are eligible. It's important to note that any decision to invest in solar energy should be based on the premise that receiving financial assistance should be considered an additional benefit, not a reason to invest in a solar system.
